Cookery shows are abound on TV these days and each one aims to give an eager public the latest techniques and short-cuts to get everyone cooking healthily every day with the minimum of fuss. The hapless shopper then ends up with a new bag of spices after each trip to the supermarket until the cupboards are bursting with jars full of herbs from all corners of the globe. But when it comes to finding them later, the trouble starts.

We have found cooks are regularly buying multiple jars of the same spice simply because they don’t know what’s in the cupboard. If it’s right there in view, nobody is left guessing if the cardamom pods are really running out or not.”
Indeed, many chefs agree and say that the way the new spice racks are laid out makes it ideal to tell how much of each spice is available.
Darren Smith of Smith’s Brasserie commented: “All too often the stock of spices runs out or it’s found that there are too many of one spice and too little of another. By having them right there in front of the worktop, there’s no guessing anymore and freshness is guaranteed. Also, as this new range is modular, more are bought when necessary to keep up with requirements.”
